The Gorgeous National Park Palo Verde  (GREEN ALL YEAR TREE  ) in Costa Rica has a precipitation of 41 inches with a temperature average of 80 F degrees every year. The green tree 'Palo Verde' maintains green all of the year. This National Park of Costa Rica contains two rivers that feeds the water on it flat lands and this is usually flooded in winter (rainy season). The rivers are The Tempisque and the The Bebedero. The park contains a great series of calcium mountains and plains  where there are many habitats, marshes, salty and sweet waters, with trees of mangle, Higher Grass, Chumicos ( low plants ), plus other lush forest. We found varied classes of aquatics species like birds with higher legs. In this park there are some birds in extinction world-wide, like for example the Gallant without Luck and the Red Lapas (Red Parrots) of the dry pacific in Costa Rica. The park's lagoon contains shrubs and mangles, for use of the white birds, pink herons, and others to sleep and to have chicks. In various occasions you will also find the white Ibis and the Fisher Eagles. It is worth it to say that there are many mammals as are the White- Faced Monkey, the White-Tailed Deer, and the scandalous black Congo Monkey. The Congo Monkeys and their family like to cross the road frequently in front of the cars and they hope you don't run over them while they stop and watch you.. Also, watch out for  the crocodiles, especially when the waters are low. Spectacular landscapes, antique corrals from Colony times can be observed in this area. To arrive to this fabulous National Park, follow the map route to the Abangares City, about 13 miles. to the West. Another route will be Puerto Humo, beside the Tempisque River, 3 mile more or less, then we find the Puerto Chamorro. This is the entrance to the Fluvial Park. The last alternative to the National Park will be from the Puerto Ballenas and down the Tempisque River, about 6 miles we find the Chamorro Port and the Park Fluvial. A car with double traction is necessary, to enter, especially in October and November (the peak of Rainy Season), but in conditions of dry time any car can do it. It is not possible to make tours farther than South limits of Tempisque River. This is because of weather and sea changes, winds, and the soft ground, etc. In the Pacific of Costa Rica it is possible to take tourism trips to the islands such as The Coco Island and others in the area. The Coco Island was named a candidate in 2008 by The Seven Wonders of the World. From Puntarenas it is difficult to travel by the river waters between November to March because of the strong winds. Sometimes traveling takes 5 mile per hour for these reasons, but is not usually this slow until the Island of Chira. In Parque Nacional Palo Verde there are camping facilities with showers. They also offer small tours, bird watching, hiking, traveling across water passages, and horseback riding. There are three hotels within one hour of the park. The park is visited by a huge amount of tourists in dry season from December to March. Another nice park in Costa Rica is the Park Manuel Antonio. This destination combines beaches, tropical vegetation and animals. It is located about 40 mile South of Puntarenas.

The Chira Island of Costa Rica is approximately 52 square kilometers and annually there are rains of 35 inches annually and is approximately 80 F degrees. Its a major fishing and agriculture community and has much teak wood, and other natural wood. The Chira Mountain with 250 meters of height is a very nice view. The Dead Beach (Playa Muerto) on this island is the most visited out of the 8 beaches there. Travel by boat is approximately one hour from Puntarenas depending on weather conditions. 

The Rattan Island is a very small island, but it has a variety of vegetation and fauna. It does not have services like water or electricity, so it is not a popular tourist site. 

Deer Island (Isla Venado). This island has an extension of 4.42 square kilometers with a population of almost 900 people with a majority living on fishing. A variety of vegetation can be found. The island has a lot of  broken landscape and also there are 6 beaches and many marine resources. To arrive to Deer Island it will be necessary to enter through the Port of Jicaral (La Penca en .Jicaral) by boat (no driving available). Camping is offered as well as cabins to stay at. You can enjoy scuba diving, bird watching, diving, and fishing.

Horse Island has an extension of  4 square kilometers and has a small population of about 300 people. It is 6 miles from Puntarenas by private boat (no driving available). There are dry and rain forests, and it has several beaches and marine resources.

San Lucas Island  has a dry and tropical forest, and rains 35 inches annually. It has some broken landscape and a few plains. It does not have any rivers, but some small creeks. It has several types of protected species of wood. This island has a very unique historical value for Costa Rica, because this is where the main Costa Rican jail for inmates is that opened in 1873 and is now closed down. These facilities are open to the public as well as other constructions, too. You have to hire a private boat (after paying a fee at the Puntarenas City Hall) to get to San Lucas Island and it's about 6 miles from Puntarenas.

Parque Nacional Palo Verde ( Tree Palo Verde Park ).
Extencion 19.804 ha. Anualmente tiene una precipitacion de 1050 mm. con una temoeratura promedio de 27 grados centigrados.
Palo Verde, el arbol se mantiene verde todo el año, este Parque Nacional de Costa Rica contiene dos Rios que lo irriegan y sus llanuras se inundan en invierno. Los rios son Rio tempisque y Rio Bebedero. Contiene una gran serie de montañas y llanuras calcacias en donde se encuentran muchos habitats, pantanos, aguas dulces y saladas, con arboles de mangle, Zacatonales, chumicos y bosques. Sitio Ramsar de rango Internacional, encontramos variadas clases de especies en aves acuaticas con patas altas. En este parque hay algunas de las aves en (extinction) estincion en el mundo, como por ejemplo Galan sin Ventura, Lapas Rojas del pacifico seco en costa Rica, La laguna contiene arbustos y manglares, que las aves garzas blancas, rosadas y otras, usan para dormir y tener polluelos, en varias ocaciones se encuentran el Ibis blanco y el aguila pescadora. Vale la pena decir que con frecuencia se miran animales mamiferos como El Mono Cara Blanca, el Venado de Cola Blanca, y el escandaloso Congo negro y su familia, que cruzan a unos metros de tu automovil y te hacen esperar, cuando te miran, como vivitante. Se miran grandes cocodrilos, especialmente cuando las aguas estan bajas.
El Paisajes adorable, se miran Corrales de la epoca de la Colonia, manglares y llanuras con montañas y rios.
La ruta a seguir para llegar son Ciudad de Abangares, 30 kilometros al oeste, y otra es Puerto Humo, por el rio tempisque que a mas o menos 8 kilometros se encuentra el puerto Chamorro, en donde encontramos la entrada al Parque Fluvial y la ultima alternativa es desde el Puerto Ballena, Por el rio Tempisque, rio abajo mas o menos 13 kilometros se encuentra el Puerto Chamorro, y encuentras el Parque Fluvial. Se debe usar casi obligatoriamente un auto de doble traccion para entrar, especialmente en Octubre y Noviembre, pero en condiciones de tiempo seco se puede usar cualquier otro automovil.
No es posible hacer tours mas al sur del limite de este parque por el rio tempisque, por razones de diferentes cambios en el terreno debido a mareas o vientos. En el pacifico de Costa rica se puede hacer excursiones turisticas a la Isla Del Coco y otras en el area, La isla del Coco fue Nombrada en 2008 por The Seven Wonders of the World , a candidate, Una candidata a ese titulo.
Desde puntarenas es dificil viajar al rio bebedero en epoca de Noviembre a Marzo, por los duros vientos que soplan, se viaja algunas veces a solo 10 kilometros por hora por estas razones de tiempo, pero si es mas rapido al inicio del viaje hasta la Isla de Chira. en este Parque de palo Verde hay posiblidad de alquilar baños, se alquilan caballos, y solo se puede atender a 120 personas.
Hay tres hoteles a una hora del parque, y todos dan la posibilidad de hospedarse y viajar al parque. desde aqui se pueden desarrollar actividades como Mirar aves, viajar atravez de los manglares, caminatas por senderos o rutas terrestres, mirar la vegetacion y tomar fotografias, viajes a la isla de pajaros,
Este parque es visitado en gran cantidad por turistas en epocas de diciembre a Marzo y de junio a agosto.

Otro destino de Parque nacional es El Parque Manuel Antonio.
Este destino convina La Playa con Naturaleza y Vegetacion.

La Isla de Chira.
La mas poblada de Costa Rica. aproximadamente 52 kilometros cuadrados, anualmente hay lluvias de 900 mm y 27 grados centigrados de temperatura aproximada. Sus pobladores depende en su mayoria d la pesca. tiene bosquescon maderas teca y otros naturales como maglares, y agriculturas. Se mira el cerro de Chira con 250 m. de altura. la playa Muerto en esta isla es turistica, que esta al noreste de la isla., pero tiene 8 playas.
Se puede viajar en aproximadamente una hora desde Puntarenas Centro en una embarcacion Publica en condiciones de tiempo normales.
se puede ir de caminatas con guias turisticos y a las playas.

La Isla Bejuco
Esta es una isla muy pequeña, pero tiene una variada vegetacion y fauna. No tiene servicios como agua o electricidad, por lo que no se considera para el turismo un potencial.
Isla Venado

Esta isla tiene una extencion de 4,42 kilometros cuadrados, aqui viven casi 900 personas, la mayoria viven de la pesca. una vegetacion variada de bosque seco, que entre esos arboles se encuentran los manglares, la isla tiene una topografia quebrada y tambien se encuentran 6 playas, tiene muchos recursos marinos. se puede viajar por el puerto La Penca en Jicaral.
Existen algunas cabinas y otros servicios necesarios para sobrevir en la isla. se puede practicar la pesca, el buceo, mirar aves,naturaleza y playas, fotos ect.

Isla Caballo

Tiene 4 kilometros cuadrados y una poblacion menor a 300 habitantes. A doce kilometros de Puntarenas, y a solo 40 minutos, se encuentra agua de pozo, el bosque es seco y lluvioso, tiene varias playas, aqui se miran tambien manglares, y recursos marinos. se llega a ella a travez de transporte privado.

Isla San Lucas

Bosque seco y tropical, un poco caliente, llueve por año aproximadanete 900mm, aqui llueve de mayo a noviembre y de junio hasta agosto. Tiene topografia quebrada y con pocas llanuras.
No tiene rios, pero algunas quebradas temporales. tiene algunos arboles maderables y otros tropicales como los mangles. esta isla tiene un valor historico unico para Costa rica, pues aqui hubo una penitencieria para reclusos en los años 1873. como atractivo estan las instalaciones de las carceles y construcciones del pasado, ademas se puede pescar en el Golfo de Nicoya, ver la flora y fauna existente en ella y la playa, porsupuesto.
se puede ir a la isla en 40 minutos desde puntarenas o desde algunos hoteles en el Cocal Puntarenas tambien. la coordinacion con La Municipalidad de Puntarenas es necesaria, para visitar esta bella isla.
se programan servicios de agua, alimentos, y otros muy pronto. Y solo nos queda por decir que para el futuro proximo Costa rica mejorara el acceso a todas las areas de estos hermosos lugares para que todos los visitemos y conoscamos mas acerca de el sector pacifico.

 Guanacaste offers the opportunity to go on fascinating trips by the Gulf of Nicoya. Do not forget your camera because the photos are proof of your visit to these type of places as well as your memory of beautiful Costa Rica. You can take tours, practice scuba diving (buseo), go fishing, view the tremendous volcanoes of the area, go on bike trips to all the the different cities, go surfing,  horseback riding, watch the exotic and beautiful birds in the area, water sports such as windsurfing in the Lagoon Arenal, visit the many rivers such as the Tempisque River. Or maybe you want to simply go to visit some older Catholic churches, or watch some National television in Costa Rica. Along the trip from Guanacaste to San Jose, there are many low cost and delicious roadside restaurants everywhere. As you get closer to San Jose (within about 2 or 3 miles) then the prices are higher for the tourist.

When you visit the area of the Central Valley of this beautiful country, you should visit different volcanoes in the States of Heredia (the Barva Volcano), and Alajuela (the Poás Volcano), and in  Cartago (the Irazu Volcano). Of course in taking a tour, you can get all information from your tourist guide/s as you are going through every city. For example, if you go by Sarchi, and it happens that you get to see Zarcero and take pictures at the beautiful designs at the central park, the tourist guide will tell all about that area. when traveling, parts of Palmares and the city of Heredia (Called The Flowers City), or Alajuela.

It is very important make yourself sure that weather and fog conditions are available before  traveling to the Irazu Volcano. You can visit the Atlantic Zone in Costa Rica. It is very attractive  and you can find some differences from the Pacific Zone. Here in the Atlantic is Limon, Cahuita, and other cities. You can watch the sea turtles at the Tortuguero National Park (Rio Tortuguero). The Limon beaches can be a little tedious, because there are many mosquitoes, so please remember insect repellent. Taking photos of the turtles at night is dangerous for them because of the effects of the camera flash light and they could possibly go blind and or die. Fishing, diving and surfing is possible at this area as well. Hotels and restaurants are available, and so is public and private transportation. You will find exotic birds and white-faced monkeys in the Limon area.
 

It is important to let other people know to where you are going to be, in case of an emergency, ALWAYS in Costa Rica. Renting a cell phone wouldn't be a bad idea either.

The Puntarenas State definitively offers many attractive sites for the Costa Ricans and for the visitors. Monteverde has one of the most unique climates in the world and is also is in the North Pacific. As you travel through Monteverde and the towards the Arenal Volcano, the streets and mountains are pretty fun and exciting to go through. The town of Cachi  has it's lagoon or (Laguna of Arenal) and the Gulf of Nicoya can be seen from there and some sunsets at the Pacific Ocean. There are several species of birds and nice vegetation, because weather is changed from the cloud forest in that area. It is very pretty and different from the lower sites in Costa Rica.


 In the city of Abangares it is possible to visit some gold mines (minas de oro) from Colonial times. Also, the city of Abangares has rivers running through the city and is something unique.  Very important data for Guanacaste and north and south Puntarenas are the beautiful ecologic beaches and national Costa Rican reserves.
To visit these places consult a tour operator at a tour company, or at your hotel for more accurate information.

San Jose (capital of Costa Rica), definitively is a nice place where you can be spend three days visiting restaurants, parks, churches, museums, theaters, galleries of culture and of art. You will find that there are many small towns, too. In San Jose downtown, some taxi drivers, if you ask them, will take you to places and help you for a price. Or, just ask them a quick question and some will give you answers for free. For security reasons do not ever ask to people in the poor zones around San Jose. Ask hotel personnel, a policeman,  taxi drivers, tour operators, or consult the telephone guide.
 
 
 
 
 Guanacaste ofrece la oportunidad de ir a fantasticos y facinantes viajes por el golfo de Nicoya. No se olvide de su camara fotografica, pues las fotos son prueba de su visita a este tipo de lugars.
Puedes tomar un tour, ir a practicar scuba diving ( buceo ), pesca, mirar los volcanes del area, practicar viajes en bicicleta por las diferentes ciudades Guancastecas, surfing, andar a caballo, mirar a las bellas y exoticas aves del area, deportes del viento (windsufing) en La Laguna del Arenal por ejemplo, visitar los rios, como el Rio Tempisque. o simplemente vitar iglesias y ver television nacional en Costa Rica. Por todo el viaje desde Guanacaste a San Jose, al lado isquierdo y derecho de la carretera se miran las entradas de las distintas ciudades del pais, ademas hay la posiblidad de comprar algo de tomar y comer en los diferentes restaurantes que aparecen por doquier.
Pero si entras a cualquier ciudad que usualmente no esta a mas de 2 kilometros de distancia de la carretera principal, puedes comprar mucho mas barato, pues los precios no son para turista, sino que para los locales.

Cuando visites el area del Valle Central de este hermoso pais, no puedes perderte los diferentes volcanes que se encuentran en Heredia (volcan Barva), en Alajuela con ( volcan Poás) y desde Cartago se observa el volcan Irazu, tambien. Por supuesto que si tomas un tour, ellos te van a explicar todo el trayecto, a como se va pasando por cada ciudad, como por ejemplo, si vas por Sarchi, tendras que pasar por Zarcero, Parte de Palmares y despues Heredia, o alajuela. de todas formas es muy importante averiguar el tiempo antes de partir, pues podrias ver muy poco y si esta oscuro, con niebla o lloviendo no disfrutas mucho y hasta peligroso puede ser.
Puedes visitar la zona atlantica, esta ofrece un atractivo algo diferente a la del Pacifico.
Mirar las tortugas marinas en El Rio Tortuguero y la Playa en Limon, puede ser un poco tedioso, pues hay muchos mosquitos, ademas recuerde que si tomas fotografias a las tortugas, estas podrian quedar ciegas por culpa del flassh de tu camara. en el area del Atlantico se puede pescar, bucear, y tambien hay buenos hotels y restaurantes, servicios de auto buses, se puede mirar aves exoticas y acampar. Es importante dejar saber a alguna persona en donde usted va estar, por si alguna emergencia.
La Provincia de Puntarenas definitivamente ofrece muchos atractivos para los Costarricense y extrangeros visitantes.
Monteverde es un lugar unico en el mundo y su clima tambien lo es. se encuentra en el pacifico norte y en viaje hacia el volcan Arenal se pasa por Monteverde, sus calles y montañas son expectaculares, la Represa de Cachi y muchas vista panoramicas del golfo y Oceano Pacifico son mas visibles, aves, vegetacion y otros factores cambian con res[ecto a el area de tierras bajas de Costa Rica.
En Las Juntas de Abangares se puede visitar lugares que datan de epocas de la Colonia, ademas con sus minas de oro y aguas que crren en medio de la ciudad, la hacen muy atractiva a todos los visitantes.
Dato muy importante s que tanto en Guanacaste, puntarenas norte y sur se encuentran bellisimas playas y reservas ecologicas y que todos estos lugares se pueden visitar, consulte con su operador de tour o con su hotel, donde usted reservo, para que le de mas informacion acerca de como se puede usted desplasar a cualquier lugar que usted guste.

San Jose ( capital de Costa Rica ), definitivamente es un lugar en donde usted puede gastarse mas de tres dias, visitando restaurantes, parques, iglesias, museos, teatros, galerias de arte, pueblos o distritos aledanos, y mucho mas. Algunos taxistas le puden ayudar a conocer San Jose, por razones de dificultad de conducir en esta area del pais, no es recomendable preguntar a cualquier otra persona por direciones., solo a su hotel, su operador de tour, o por ultimo a un taxista.
