Michael told us he has a 20-year-old Sister who studies, or she is a student, also an older brother. He said he also has traveled in Europe and South America. He liked Brazil very much because of the people, and  maybe the girls.
 We asked this young 23-year-old tourist, Michael, if he likes our country's people and customs? He answered, "Of Course, Sure!"
Then we asked what was he doing in the town? and he answered... "I'm a Student of Spanish and I have only been for 5 days. I'm living with some friends, and with the matter of eating, I eat sometimes at the local market and their seafood. is very good."
Michael said, " I'm from United States of America, just to be exact, from Maine in the New England States. And now it's very frozen over there. Maybe my father will meet with me, because I will stay about 5 more months."

Para todos los que hemos al menos pasado una noche por alla. Ya sea descansando por todo un puesto de trabajo en la Capital, en algun otro lugar en nuestro pais o en el mundo, nunca nos habiamos preguntado que hace Puntarenas sin el turismo de temporada de verano. A esta ciudad solo le quedan los pescadores y algun otro negocio basado en las visitas del pequeno turismo de invierno.

Pero en la del pasado esta en el punto que nosotros queremos dejar muy claro., no era como hoy, claro que no..
 . la miramos como mas atractiva, pues las piscinas de la punta estuvieron en mejor estado y los carnavales tuvieron mas sabor...

El certamen de senorita de verano tubo mas visitantes y si seguimos hablando encontramos muchisimas cosas de las que hoy ya no estan.
Pero de donde vino ese nombre tan directo...humm... No parece de Espana, mas bien se asemeja a la union de dos palabras del espanol de Hispano-America y es eso lo que nos atrae mas aun.

"Punta" en el punto mas bajo de nuestra patria y "Arenas" por las playas de arena negra y que se extienden por toda la peninzula  del  lado del mar. Los Portenos son hombres y mujeres que como todos los otros Costarricenses viven dia a dia la incertidumbre de cual sera el futuro de nuestra ciudad y sera por eso que esperan mientras siguen disfrutando de la variadas oportunidades que se encuentran en este lugar.

Pero quien no adquiria un beso de su amada en Puntarenas, cunado miraba el atardecer y es que eso es lo que es, un maravilloso lugar para amar y enamorarse, para mirar los increibles atardeceres romanticos. Tiene el alma Tica y por seguro un puesto con privilegio en nuestras paginas tambien.

For all of us that have spent at least one night at this important city, whether on vacation or for a business trip, after a whole year of work in San Jose (the country's Capital, two hours east ), or on vacation from anywhere in the entire world for that matter...

We may ask ourselves "How do the people in here do their everyday living in the rainy season?" Well, the main source of income for the town are working as the fishermen (one of Costa Rica most important fishing ports) in addition with  the tourism business.
This is why it has the nickname 'The City Always In Season'.

I, like many people, still remember yesterday's from these city and the attractive Olympic-sized swimming pool at the end of Barrio El Carmen at the end corner of the small peninsula, and it shut down in the 1990's.
 We believe that this now abandoned attraction will eventually be opened up again one day, possibly when the San Lucas Island is restored and reopened for tourism purposes. San Lucas was a prison opened 125 years ago and closed it's doors in the 1960's. It is very comparable to the Alcatraz Island in some ways.

This popular port town is known for it's many annual cultural festivals, local beauty contests, concerts, dances, bullfights, parades and much more to always keep attracting tourists and local people alike.

The Festival every February is probably the third largest fair in Costa Rica, with the Zapote Festival being the largest in San Jose every December.

From Where the people get it's name? It's the joint of two Costa Rican's Spanish words, "Punta" means "End" and "Arenas" means "Sands", so that means "End Sands", or a small peninsula. These sands are spread across the whole peninsula.

The "Portenos" are Costa Ricans like any others men and women, that live the ongoing days of not knowing what will be at the future, While they enjoy the variety of opportunities that this place offers.
Who did not get their first kiss in this town while they where looking at the amazing sunsets and landscapes?.

A quien de verdad le interesa averiguar cuantos hombres famosos vivieron, murieron o quien la fundo? las canciones lindas que se le hicieron o si un ex presidente fue fusilado tambien., lo importante es que Esta Gran Ciudad es famosa por su gente y los bellos paisajes, lugar de para amar y ser amado.

Por eso visitela sanamente y enamorese.

It is a gorgeous place to love and be loved.. in other words, "Falling in Love". Possibly, It could also be nicknamed 'The Home of Cupid'?
